Click-to-Run is the technology used to install products from the Office 365 subscription and most versions of Office 2013 and later.
Windows Installer technology (MSI) was used to install the volume licence editions of older versions of Office 2016, such as Microsoft Office Professional Plus and Microsoft Office Standard. You cannot install the same version of Office products that use two different installation technologies on the same computer.
This also applies to standalone applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Visio, Project, Skype for Business or OneDrive for Business.
Important note on support: Official support for Office 2013 ended in April 2023. This means there are no more security updates. For PCs with an internet connection, we recommend a more modern Office version for security reasons. What is the difference between Office 2013 Home & Business and Home & Student?
The key difference is that the "Home & Business" edition also includes the email program Microsoft Outlook. The "Home & Student" version is cheaper, but it does not include Outlook and its licence terms do not allow commercial use.
Is this a perpetual licence or a subscription?
This is a perpetual licence. You pay only once and can use the software permanently on one PC. There are no recurring costs.
Is it still safe to use Office 2013 today?
